Rosemary, bless you! I have also struggled with the concept of “asking”…but Christ is so forceful in that statement to “ask, seek, knock”, that I can no longer ignore it. I am not suggesting asking for a “mansion and a Mercedes”, etc. but when we have physical needs, like the basics of life or items we would use in minsitry, we do need to gather the courage to ask. There is nothing wrong with being wealthy…as long as you do not worship the money. Not one penny goes with us when we leave this place. That being said, being poor is not fun, I have plenty of experience with that. I cling to God’s statement about “God hath chosen the poor, rich in faith” and also “God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise, and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things that are mighty…” That is me, 100%. God bless and keep you, Wendy
Wonderful piece, Wendy. Another deep dive into a very thought-provoking topic. I had never thought about the fact that "asking" is not just to receive something, but to learn something as well.
Hmm... I read something once that said, "You could have asked for a miracle." *slap upside my head* I could have asked. Why didn't I? Thanks for the reminder, Wendy.
Miracles…good reminder back to me, Jan. I ask for so little, hence my challenges. God is so good and wants to help us along the difficulty of the narrow path of following Him and His Son. I guess we learn as we go along…
H.J. Hill, humble thanks to you for this remembrance of my dear brother Tommy. His unnecessary death broke me so long ago and fully set me on 35 years of rebellion. God tells me “your brother is with Me” and that has helped to heal my soul. Thank you for thinking of Thomas Henry Williams, his name is on the Vietnam War Memorial in DC. Wendy
Sister Wendy E,your words are like an arrow direct to the heart. I read this, this morning but I've bin running around all day,it's not nearly 7pm and I'm home relaxing with Cliff on a DVD. That's Cliff Richard he never cracked America but that's probably because he's far too good for crass USA tastes. Sorry, that was rude of my. YOU'D LOVE Cliff. He is a Christian. He wasn't brought up religious but in the late 1950s he was influenced by several band members (of The Shadows ) so he looked into Faith and in I think it was 1962 or 3 he 'CAME OUT' and declared his Faith at a big Billy Graham rally in London. It was a very brave thing to do and he was was told by some other pop stars that all his following would fall away and he'd lose his career but the opposite happened. Not only did a lot of his girl followers (now Grannies) start going to church but his popularity got Even Bigger. I keep asking God,Jesus, the Holy Spirit to put Caritas into my being but I guess even for God some things are IM-POSS-IBLE! I had a conversation today with a beggar at the shops then his mate came along. They were better theologians than the Archbishop of Canterbury whoever that is now. The first beggar was a dead ringer for Russell Brand. It was his blue eyes that captivated me. But their talk on God and the Holy Spirit put to shame the mealy mouthed apologists on tv or radio.Or on social media.
Jane, bless you! Your insights are always deep and thoughtful. I think direct relationship with Papa and His Son is key...just hanging out with Them, pouring out your heart, not trying to perform but just by being your own self, which is sometimes raw and ragged (ME!!!). God is so marvelously merciful to all our nonsense...and that must be where the "Ask" comes in. Not one of us is capable of getting to Heaven on our own steam, it is a divine partnership of daily walking with Papa and Lord Jesus. They help so profoundly. I am grateful my humble writing brings some blessings your way. Godspeed to you, Wendy
One of your best. I, too, have trouble asking. Straight to the heart!
Thank you, dear Joan. Your comment means so much to me!!
Often we are fully aware that we have been given so much.
For me, asking seems like begging for more. It should not be
We ask for a day of peace for what has been, emotionally, and for courage,
I always need courage.

Dear Wendy, Today is Memorial Day as you know. One of my memorials today is for your beloved brother. The Lord knows. The Lord remembers.
