Stephanie, many thanks! I try very hard to present engaging, thought-provoking and hopeful writing pieces. With all the despair in the world, ( I deal with the same thing…) I listen deeply to Holy Spirit, for His marvelous spark of hope to pass along! Bless you, Wendy
Sister Wendy E.,it's occurred to me that the words we use define CONCEPTS. The other day I looked up into a blue, blue sky (and this is England),and as I was in my mind writing a piece for my Substack, two words to describe what I was looking up into occurred to me and also the realization that the use of one word or the other word defined your whole concept of life and everything. I was looking at "the sky" but that was like saying "a woman" instead of Ingrid,or Nancy,or Joan. Was I confronting Space or The Heavens. I opted for The Heavens. Not because I believe in an old angry bearded guy in an imposing throne up there but because its a positive term, that is a place like London is a place or Delhi is a place,it's not an empty cipher. I don't know when the term "space" became the "correct term" for whatever is beyond our atmosphere but the very word is negative and suggests emptiness and nothing. My Dad always said that Space was not empty but full of gas clouds and particles and this was back in the day when scientists derided such ideas that they now espouse. But I've decided in future to use the term "the heavens" because "space" denotes emptiness - an empty space is ripe for use,for colonization,in a society of materialism that has shuffled off inconvenient and restraining God ideas the concept of Space is much more USEFUL than the concept of The Heavens which infers an incumbent proprietor!
Jane, thank you for your insightful comment! I do think the heavens do indeed infer an incumbent proprietor, God! I am so grateful for Him, as without Him, I would have died long ago, no doubt. I hold fast to God’s hand each and every day. Godspeed to you, dear Jane, fellow deep thinker! Wendy
Jane!!! You are a woman like me, who loves words! No worries, I get verbose as well and that comes with loving the realm of writing and words and expression. Write on!
A lovely piece that emphasizes the fact hat even when we are unfaithful, God is not. You're not the only one God chased down! CS Lewis wrote that after the night of his conversion, he woke up "the unhappiest man in all England."
Seeking refuge in God... much better than where I was looking years ago! Thanks, Wendy!
You and me both, Jan! You and me both.
I always enjoy your thoughts here. :)

If only I could say it in six short snappy words!
