God bless you, Lynda Davis, for your kind and loving words. As I write each piece once a week, I seek Holy Spirit’s still, small voice of counsel and guidance. Since He knows things…He can show the way for me to speak. I truly know the sorrowful….and I want to advocate for them, as I have had done for me. God bless you and thank you again for your wonderful words! Wendy

This is a great post, Wendy. I believe that we are supposed to become more beneficial for the Kingdom as we age. I am 86 and just got my one-thousandth subscriber on YouTube for my ministry, Pilgrim Devotions. My website, faithfulpilgrim.org, is just beginning. Wendy, you are just in your 70s; you have time ahead of you for a lot more work. God bless.

"Elder age is a culmination of a lifetime of:

--What works

--What does not work

--What REALLY does work or not work!

With all due respect, the "golden years" are not always that golden. Age contains the lovely mixed bag of experience, memory and accumulation of goodbyes and departures. "

HAHAHA - I chuckled at this, thinking back to how many times I had to learn the same "what does not work" over and over again. We're like children learning to walk or a kid learning to ride a bicycle. We keep doing it until we figure it out. God is so patient. I can hear Him now, saying to Himself, "Oh boy, this is a hard case" but to me,"OK Cork, let's try this again. You'll get it, eventually."

I remember when I was a kid, hearing older ladies addressed as "young lady." You know, like a salesman saying, "How can I help you today, young lady?" I used to cringe. Still do.

Jan, I am glad I am not the only one who does not react well to that “young lady” or “72 years young” stuff. I know people are not trying to be mean…but it comes across as insensitive. I have earned my Elder age and celebrate surviving it! Just call me by my name or with “Ma’am.” Thank you for the comment!! Wendy

When I read your posts, especially this one, I feel kinda like I’m listening to the "Ride of the Rohirrim” speech; I’m cheering in my mind with emotion and loving every minute of it. You should write a book.

Thank you for this much-needed piece. So many women, young and of elder age, need to hear it. 🙏🏼😊❤️

J., I am so grateful my writing piece was of service and blessing to you! That is the core of my writing desire, to be a conduit for God’s love and for the wisdom of Holy Spirit gently pouring through my pen first and my keyboard second. A book is simmering in me…but not yet…as there are SO many books out there and I feel I would be lost in the fray. Little bits are more my niche. I just want to be a blessing to women, to recognize their great value to the world and that God created them for a special purpose, whether they are wives, Mothers or single. Men and women are different and we are supposed to help one another. I will say the Ride of the Rohirrim is one of my all-time favorite movie clips! Peter Jackson and all the incredible actors did such a wonderful job of bringing Tolkien’s huge story of the battle between good and evil, to the movie screen. King Theoden, who had to be rescued from sorcery and grief, takes charge of his Rohirrim army of men (plus the hidden Eowyn with Merry on her horse with her) and his exhortation to battle is one for the ages. I need this, just as I need the speech from Henry the 5th in the Shakespeare movie and the scriptures I read daily. Godspeed to you, J, Wendy

Abundant blessings to you, J, you are profoundly appreciated. Writing is hard and baring the soul is hard...but we keep on, in the hope that someone will be positively touched. W.E.W.
