Sometimes prayer is referred to as a wrestle before God. Not that we are trying to change His will, but that we are trying to understand His will and align ours with Him.

Agree, Connor! I have intense discussions with Papa God…never formal arguments…but usually along the lines of “but Papa, You KNOW I cannot do that…???” He just smiles and keeps going with what He wants me to do. Cannot defeat Papa…wrestle, indeed! WEW

Thirteen years of Catholic school and I don't remember imprecatory prayer. It does sound Old Testament. (Maybe I was busy passing notes in religion class!) Now I know. Thank you... Good post, Wendy.

Jan, I have not yet encountered one other person who knows about Imprecatory prayer…and yes, likely O.T. David did it a lot. I think we need it right now… thanks for reading, always! Blessings to you, Wendy

I pray as I am guided by God’s Holy Spirit and leave the results up to Him. A terrific line from an incredible post. You got me Elizabeth. I would like to do the $60.00 subscription to you. Please let me know how I can do this. I need definitive directions. This post was easily worth the $60 by itself. “Onward Christian Soldiers…”. I just received this from a dear friend who is an incredible evangelical Christian who lives on Oahu, HI. Let me know what you think about this:

I've just played on my phone a while music service in which the preacher/singer,a truly reborn to new life man, and not bad for 91 sometimes shouted Hallelujah and every time the unknown person who lives under me,well sounds like he/she threw a heavy item of furniture,so I turned the sound up higher.

Jane! Blessings to you, mighty woman of God. No matter what we go through, God is with us. He and His Son go through every difficulty alongside us, day by day. I appreciate your bluntness and wisdom and I have put you on my prayer list, I hope that is OK! You have a depth and an intensity that reminds me of myself. Please keep going, bring the whole messy pile of concerns to God everyday and resist carrying them around, they are much too heavy for us to carry. Blessings to you and I am praying for you! Wendy

One of your best! We are in a spiritual battle, indeed!

Thank you, Joan! I work so hard on these weekly pieces…not at all easy. You as a fellow writer, know the labor we all put in. I appreciate your comments so much! Bless you, Wendy

So much yes in this passionate piece. I agree 1000%. I never heard this word before IMPRECATORY. I do understand about prayer not being "meek and mild" or "polite"...far from it. I will read the 2 Psalms tomorrow morning and I plan on reading this again. I do need to spend more time alone and in prayer. I desperately need it bc I find my nervous system can become so disregulated. Prayer calms me and quiets my heart and my nervous wiring.

Outstanding. It is all about spiritual warfare. Excellent essay My Sister. One of my prime directives that irritates satan’s spirits is to spread joy. A revisit on happiness: https://drgary.substack.com/p/revisit-happiness?r=q8kg8.
