It doesn't surprise me at all that men are drawn to you. They are attracted to the grace of God at work in you. We are taught that men are after "sexiness" and youth (and biologically, this is true) but I think the atmosphere is so hostile between the sexes right now that we are all hungry for a little grace and kindness.
Jessamyn Rains, thank you! This is possibly true. My Pastor said the same thing earlier this week, when I asked him if I ever appeared inappropriate in church. He looked puzzled, said a forceful “NO!” and then said “perhaps these men are seeking to be around a Godly woman.” I still am hesitant to believe this, given the current state of the world…and my own very rowdy and rebellious history…but I am considering this. You, dear Jessamyn, write beautifully! I visited your page and read your piece on playing the organ for the first time, in your church. In the Baptist church where I grew up, there was a piano on one side of the pulpit and an organ on the other. Indeed, the organ does have that deep sound that draws you in. The classic old hymns (only ones we sang!) were majestically played on that organ and I remember it fondly. I love the modern Christian music as well but still love the old hymns! Even from my awful 35 years as a Prodigal, fleeing from God, He never forgot me and I finally came back Home. This is what I write about, “what not to do”. May our wonderful God bless, guide and keep you and yours, Wendy
Thank you for your kind words, Wendy! You are one of my new favorite authors on Substack. Your story is so important and gives people hope. God bless you!
I just stumbled onto your Substack this morning and found a treasure. Sometimes I feel like a harder the journey, that's full of many wrong turns, make the most beautiful stories of redemption. It feels like a just met a big sister in Christ. Bless you, and I look forward to mining your journey for the deeper treasures that I know have to be there. For wisdom is the greatest treasure, more valuable than silver or gold. (Prov 16:16)
Amy, you brought tears to my eyes (I cry easily…). Thank you for your heart for God and His Son! I do indeed have a story of redemption…and “what not to do” and hopefully, gradually, “what TO DO”. I can get SO serious sometimes…but I am blessed to just be alive. God bless and keep you, you are welcome to keep in touch or send me a Direct Message if you ever want to. Wendy
Wonderful words, Wendy! From a fellow introvert/extrovert! 🌹😅
Thank you, dear Miriam! I am glad I am not the only one like this!! It certainly is a balancing act (including lots of naps!!)

Great insights, Wendy.
PS I like men too!
Thank you, Jan! Men are pretty cool, most of the time! I would not like life without them.
Another great column. (Sigh).
Many thanks, Joan!! I love your writing as well!
