Wendy, I know that corner of California and Polk well. Bless you for stopping to pray. (There was another young man who used to sit outside of Walgreens, a couple doors down from the bank. Down on his luck but always cheerful!) We all can achieve. It just may not look like what we're "supposed" to achieve, right? Good piece!
Thank you, Jan. I always felt so deeply for those homeless on SF streets...so many were Vietnam Vets. Shameful that they were homeless and hungry! I pray, a lot, as that keeps me sane! Bless you for your kind thoughts! Wendy
As I have a big task ahead of me tomorrow & can't sleep tonight, your words have so many parallels to my thoughts & feelings. The timing is a deep breath filled with apprehension swirled with a daring to achieve and a daring to hope. Thank you for a blunt reminder not all is material & the best value is straight from the heart.
"Wear the devil down with gladness of spirit, he hates this and flees from it." This will be my mantra as this year comes to an end. Thank you 🙏🏻
A-Lo, I am so blessed by your heartfelt comment on my most recent writing piece! I think writers sincerely hope to reach people and to affect them in a positive manner. I am smiling through my tears (I always cry, tears are my steam-vent!). Thank you again for taking your precious time to read what I wrote and to receive it in the way I hoped people would. God bless and keep you in the New Year! Wendy
Ambre, that is a good thing, have at it! Even “high achievers” (nothing wrong with that in itself), have LIFE to deal with. Calamity or negative events out of the blue, can hit ANYONE. Just because someone is a brainiac and on top of the heap at the moment, that does not guarantee the future. Only God can ultimately be our Guide. Just like driving, one does not know what might be around the next corner. I write my pieces with the spiritual realm in mind and as one who fits the description in my own piece, I advocate for the forgotten and downtrodden, that there are plenty of gems hiding in plain view. Bless you, Wendy

I’d love to share this with one of my offspring who is an over-achiever and looks down on those of us who don’t have that personality.
